Today is my first day back to work after having been on holiday, there’s masses to do and I’m trying to use the Pomodoro technique to keep my brain from jumping around too much, thanks to @jagusti for that suggestion via @ashleymoran so far, so good.

Once I’m on top of the admin, other exciting things planned for this week are visits to my case study areas to continue observations, a meeting with the team to discuss a visit for them to the area and general project updates, I have a review with my supervisors too as we’ve now passed the 6 month probationary period. I’ll also be working on my writing each day as it’s  a habit I need to improve on to avoid intense periods of writing under pressure (my preferred style but not the most fruitful), the blog will be a key part of that I think but I’ll be writing more offline and will try to keep this space only for coherent thoughts (probably). In my free time, I’m also nipping down to the GIST Lab newly opened this week and heading to Geek Girls Allowed on Thursday evening.

Next week I’ll be mainly out on visits to the case study sites and writing but I’m also hoping to get to the first GIST conversation on Participation which will provide a good opportunity for developing my understanding of ways to encourage hard to reach groups to participate in activities as the attendees are a mix of academics, community groups, event organisers and facilitators.

The timer on my phone’s just gone to tell me my 25 minutes is up so I better finish there and take my 5 minute break, TTFN :)
